We use technologies like cookies (small files stored on your browser), web beacons, or unique device identifiers to identify your computer or device so we can deliver a better experience. We also log information like your browser, operating system and IP address. This information will not be made accessible to any third party without your consent. We also may collect personally identifiable information that you provide to us, such as your email address, with the sole purpose to enable us to contact you for the purposes of providing our services. Our systems may associate this personal information with your activities in the course of providing service to you (such as pages you view or things you click on or search for).
We do not knowingly contact or collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly obtain parental consent or remove the information.
We will collect non-personally identifiable information that you provide to us, when you register with us or when you use our services, in order to provide our services to you and our partners. At no point will an association between this information and any personally identifiable information you have already provided (such as your email address) be revealed to a third party. This information may include general health information, disease-specific health information, as well as demographic information.
Upon registration for membership, we will ask you for your email address; this will be used only to enable us to communicate with you, and will not be shared with anyone else. Furthermore, we may ask you to provide us with a username, which will serve as your unique identifier within the confines of our system and our site, as well as to other members. In that case, please note that you are responsible for the selection of your username; since this username will be used throughout the site, you agree to select a username that does not personally identify you in any way.
Moreover, upon registration we may ask you to provide us with additional relevant information that is necessary for us to render services to you, including your country and preferred language, whether you are a patient or a caregiver, and any condition and treatment information. None of this information will be shared with other members or third parties in a way that can personally identify you.

We do not use or collect your precise geographic location.

We remove personally identifiable information (such as your email address) promptly after you ask us to remove your account.
However, please keep in mind that your information may be retained in residual copies we store for backup purposes. There may be a reasonable time lag between the account removal and the latest backup copy to be refreshed to reflect the elimination of your personally identifiable information. We will make commercially and technically reasonable efforts to properly restore the system status in case of a failure.
We may retain other information you have provided; if you require us to remove all information you have provided throughout the course of your membership, please contact us, and we will make commercially and technically reasonable efforts to do so. Data Collection Purpose
We collect any data you provide to us in order to render services to you, as well as our partners. Consequently, we may use this data to improve your experience with our site and system. For instance, our systems, employees, contractors and affiliated organisations may need to access such data in order to process a request.
We use your Internet Protocol (IP) address to help diagnose problems with our service, and to administer the software. Your IP address is used to help identify you, and to gather broad demographic data.
We may also use your personal information to create anonymous information records by excluding information that makes the information personally identifiable as you.
We will retain the information you provide for as long as you are a member, unless you request otherwise.
Our services and algorithms will process your personal data in order to provide personalised services to you or to understand more about you and to provide better services to you.
We will send you strictly service-related announcements on rare occasions when it is necessary to do so. For instance, if our service is temporarily suspended for maintenance, we might send you an email.
Generally, you may not opt-out of these communications, which are not promotional in nature. If you do not wish to receive them, you have the option to deactivate your account.
On the other hand, you can always opt out of receiving certain communications from CareAcross, such as our newsletter, by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of our newsletters, or requesting so by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Based upon the personally identifiable information you provide us, we will send you a welcoming email. We will also communicate with you in response to your inquiries, to provide the services you request, and to manage your account. We will communicate with you by email, in accordance with your wishes.
We will never provide personally identifiable information (such as your email address) to third parties. Your posts (“Stories”) to our community may be visible to other registered users of this site for the duration of their authenticated browsing sessions. We will not expose any of the personally identifiable information you have provided (such as your email address) to any other registered user.
We may use your messages (posts or emails) in our (digital or printed) corporate communications, without exposing your username or email address.
Although we will never provide personally identifiable information (such as your email address) to third parties, we may provide non-personally identifiable information to third parties. This information may be provided for commercial, research or other purposes; the third parties may be commercial, research, public or private organisations (including, for example, pharmaceutical, insurance, healthcare, or other organisations). This information will never include your contact information or any personally identifiable information you have provided to us. For instance, we may collect a variety of non-personally identifiable information and provide statistics to a third party.
Upon your explicit request, we may share your information with a third party that you designate (e.g. a family member or your clinician, henceforth “Viewer”), for example to keep them up to date on your circumstances. In order to invite a Viewer, you have to explicitly indicate that you have received their consent for CareAcross to invite them via email on your behalf, at the specific email address, and for the corresponding purpose.
Viewers are individuals who have been invited by CareAcross members as read-only viewers of the corresponding member’s input. Viewers may include, for example, healthcare professionals, family members, support personnel, etc.
A CareAcross member can only invite a Viewer if they have the Viewer’s consent for CareAcross to invite them via email, at a specific email address, on their behalf, and for the corresponding purpose. The Viewer will only be able to view the member’s information after accepting the invitation from that member.
CareAcross will not sell or share the Viewer’s email or any other personal information, but may reach out privately to the Viewer for practical purposes (including reminders, feedback and more).
